Terry Martin indicted in Judy Garland ‘Wizard of Oz’ Ruby Slipper theft

 

It has been reported by various online outlets that a man named Terry Martin, has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of stealing a pair of ruby red slippers worn by Judy Garland in “The Wizard of Oz” (1939). The shoes were stolen in 2005 and recovered in a 2018 FBI sting operation yet at the time, no arrests were made. Movie Prop Collectors covered the story in 2018 HERE.

Mr. Martin was indicted Tuesday with one count of theft of a major artwork, prosecutors announced early today.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported that Martin age 76, lives 12 miles south of the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

The initial court appearance is set for June 1 and is to take place via video.
