\"\"<\/a>Today, Academy Award<\/em> winning (for the 1985 film, Cocoon<\/a><\/strong>) artist, illustrator, and conceptual designer, Ralph McQuarrie<\/em><\/strong> <\/a>passed away at the age of\u00a082 in his home located in\u00a0Berkeley California.<\/p>\n

Mr. McQuarrie worked on such films as the Star Wars<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, The Empire Strikes Back<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, and Return of the Jedi<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, Jurassic Park<\/em>, Batteries Not Included<\/em>, ET. The Extra Terrestrial<\/em>, Cocoon<\/a><\/em>, and many others.<\/p>\n

He will be sorely missed, but his creative work will always live on in the amazing films he worked on and contributed to.<\/p>\n

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph\u00a0\u00a0 McQuarrie<\/strong>.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

People say you should never meet your heroes. Ralph<\/strong> was the exception to\u00a0\u00a0 that rule. We were all fans of his amazing art long before we were blessed with\u00a0\u00a0 his friendship. But once you got to know Ralph<\/strong> it was impossible not to become a\u00a0\u00a0 fan of Ralph<\/strong> the man.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Ralph<\/strong> was a very special person for many more reasons than his undeniable\u00a0\u00a0 brilliance with a brush. He was an especially kind, sensitive, deep, modest,\u00a0\u00a0 funny and fascinating gentleman. And as fine a role model as any one could have\u00a0\u00a0 wished for.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

His influence on design will be felt forever. There’s no doubt in our\u00a0\u00a0 hearts that centuries from now amazing spaceships will soar, future cities will\u00a0\u00a0 rise and someone, somewhere will say…<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
