December 2011 will be remembered as one of the largest auction months for Hollywood movie memorabilia ever.<\/p>\n
Multiple genres are represented by various auction houses offering items from film, celebrities, and pop memorabilia. There literally is something of interest for everyone.<\/p>\n
Below is a summary of the auction houses and their December auctions dealing with movie, entertainment, and celebrity memorabilia\u00a0 in order of the date each takes place.<\/p>\n

Julien’s Auctions:<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 9665 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 150 Beverly Hills, CA<\/p>\n December 1st:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Icons and Idols: Hollywood<\/em><\/a>: Day one of this auction consists of various items from the personal collections of celebrities, art, original movie props, costumes, and other items. Lots range from costumes from The Big Lebowski to Xray’s of John Wayne’s<\/em> pelvis, with an opening bid of $400.<\/p>\n December 2nd:<\/strong><\/span> Icons and Idols: Hollywood and Marilyn Monroe<\/em><\/a>: Day two includes lot #784: Marilyn Monroe<\/em> Screen Worn Costume, (The Seven Year Itch<\/em>), as well as various lots consisting of Monroe<\/em> photographs and negatives (with the copy-writes) from photographer, Joseph Jasgur.\u00a0 Original props, costumes and artwork round out day two.<\/p>\n December 3rd:<\/strong><\/span> Icons and Idols: Sports and Rock and Roll<\/a><\/em>:<\/p>\n Sports and Rock and Roll, including items from baseball legend, Joe DiMaggio<\/em>, Boxing great, Mohammed Ali<\/em>, items from past Presidents, items from Frank Sinatra<\/em> & Elvis Presley<\/em>, including prescription bottles from both entertainers, ephemera from The Beatles<\/em>, James Brown<\/em>, and more.<\/p>\n December 17th:<\/span> 100 North Carolwood Drive<\/em><\/a><\/strong>. This auction is for the contents of the home singer Michael Jackson<\/em> rented before his untimely death\u00a0 June 25th, 2009. The auction originally included the bed Mr. Jackson died in<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, has since been removed<\/em><\/strong><\/a> from the auction at the request of the Jackson estate<\/a><\/strong><\/em>. Though there are not many original props and costumes (other than the Dr. Who costumes), there is a ‘Raiders Of The Lost Ark’, 1981: an Indiana Jones trademark bullwhip and a Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, 1999, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s fighting light-saber listed for auction.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Christies:<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n 20 Rockefeller Plaza New York, NY<\/p>\n December 14th, 15th, & 16th:<\/strong><\/span> The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor:<\/strong><\/a> New York, New York<\/p>\n This three day auction is split into three sections each with a different theme each day:<\/p>\n Day One, December 14th: The Icon and Her Haute Couture Evening Sale<\/strong><\/a><\/em> consists of 68 lots of jewelry and clothing with the last lot being an original painting of Miss Taylor by Andy Warhol.<\/p>\n Day Two, December 15th:<\/em> Fashion and Accessories, Sessions 2, 3, and 4<\/em><\/strong><\/a> consists of 326 lots of handbags, jewelry, and clothing.<\/p>\n Day Three, December 16th:<\/em> Fine and Decorative Art & Film Memorabilia, including Costumes<\/em><\/strong><\/a> consists of\u00a0 146 lots of fine art, film scripts, some of Miss Taylor’s movie costumes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
\n<\/em><\/strong><\/a>Items include original props and costumes as well as replica items. A large number of autographed items and photos are in this auction including an autographed, “Meet the Beatles” LP with a minimum bid of $37,500.<\/p>\n
