<\/a>On June 21st Walt Disney’s D 23<\/em><\/strong><\/a> will be holding a special event for the 20th anniversary of the hit Disney<\/em> film, The Rocketeer<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, starring Bill Campbell, Jennifer Connolly, Terry O’Quinn, Alan Arkin, Timothy Dalton, <\/em>and Paul Sorvino<\/em>.<\/p>\nThis once in a lifetime happening will feature The Rocketeer<\/em> himself, Bill Campbell<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, Academy Award winning make up artist, Rick Baker<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, the films screen writers Danny Bilson<\/em><\/strong><\/a> and Paul De Meo<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, as well as illustrator William Stout<\/em><\/strong><\/a> who will be representing his friend Dave Stevens<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, who created The Rocketeer Comics<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Here is the complete announcement courtesy of Walt Disney’s D23<\/em><\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n BURBANK<\/span><\/strong>, CA<\/span><\/strong>, May 19, 2011 <\/span><\/strong>\u2013 In 1991 when\u00a0The Rocketeer<\/em> hit theaters, actor\u00a0Bill Campbell<\/strong><\/em> effortlessly won fans over with his sincere portrayal of the heroic Cliff Secord. In honor of the 20th\u00a0anniversary of this Disney film favorite, Campbell will participate in a panel discussion hosted by writer\/producer\/director \u2014 and self-proclaimed\u00a0Rocketeer<\/em> fan\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Kevin Smith<\/strong><\/em>. The panel will occur immediately before an exclusive screening of the film\u00a0on June 21, 2011\u00a0at the legendary El Capitan Theatre<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, where the film premiered two decades ago,\u00a0transporting audiences to a golden age of thrills, glamour and, of course, sleek jet packs.\u00a0Members of\u00a0D23: The Official Disney Fan Club had an opportunity to secure tickets for themselves before seats are sold to the general public. <\/span><\/p>\n In addition to the rocket man himself, the panel will also feature Academy Award\u00ae<\/sup>-winning makeup artist Rick Baker (whose other work for Disney includes Enchanted<\/em> and Captain EO<\/em>) the two screenwriters responsible for the acclaimed film,\u00a0Danny Bilson<\/strong> (GoldenEye: Rogue Agent<\/em>) and\u00a0Paul De Meo<\/strong> (James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing<\/em>), and as a special treat, renowned illustrator William Stout <\/strong>(Pan\u2019s Labyrinth<\/em>,\u00a0The Muppet Wizard of Oz<\/em>) will be on hand, representing his friend Dave Stevens, creator of The Rocketeer<\/em> comics.* Other talent will be announced in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n Following the movie, guests are invited to tour the Hollywood Museum<\/em><\/strong><\/a> \u2014 located in the nearby historic Max Factor building \u2014 and explore the museum\u2019s four floors of exhibits as well as a special exhibition of props and costumes from\u00a0The Rocketeer,<\/em> curated exclusively for this event by the Walt Disney Archives.<\/span><\/p>\n The Rocketeer<\/span><\/em> follows the adventures of stunt pilot Cliff Secord (Billy Campbell<\/em>) who discovers a stolen rocket pack and sets off on a series of heroic (and sometimes hilarious) adventures that attract the attention of Howard Hughes<\/em>, the FBI, gangsters, a band of Nazis and one aspiring actress, namely Cliff\u2019s girlfriend Jenny ( Oscar\u00ae<\/sup> winner Jennifer Connolly<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>). <\/span><\/p>\n Directed by Joe Johnson<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/span>, the film also stars <\/span>Terry O\u2019Quinn<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, Alan Arkin<\/strong><\/a>, Timothy Dalton<\/strong><\/a> and Paul Sorvino<\/strong><\/a>. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Check out the <\/span>Rocketeer Trailer.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n Tickets are currently available for $50 per person.<\/span><\/p>\n D23 Members and their guests will receive a special commemorative\u00a0Rocketeer<\/em> gift.
