{"id":5098,"date":"2011-07-04T23:46:56","date_gmt":"2011-07-05T03:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.moviepropcollectors.com\/magazine\/?p=5098"},"modified":"2011-07-09T00:00:58","modified_gmt":"2011-07-09T04:00:58","slug":"exclusive-hd-videophoto-tour-of-the-incredible-knb-effects-studio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.moviepropcollectors.com\/magazine\/exclusive-hd-videophoto-tour-of-the-incredible-knb-effects-studio\/","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive: HD video tour of the incredible KNB EFX Studio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.moviepropcollectors.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/GregHowardMPC.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6156\" title=\"GregHowardMPC\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviepropcollectors.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/GregHowardMPC-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.moviepropcollectors.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/GregHowardMPC-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.moviepropcollectors.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/GregHowardMPC-401x300.jpg 401w, https:\/\/www.moviepropcollectors.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/GregHowardMPC.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Recently\u00a0I returned from\u00a0one of my trips to <em>California<\/em> to cover some fun and\u00a0interesting\u00a0subjects for readers.<\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights of my trip was a special tour of the really cool effects house,\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.knbefxgroup.com\/mainpage.html\" target=\"_blank\">KNB EFX <\/a><\/em><\/strong>which\u00a0specializes in creating characters, creatures, prosthetics, animatronics, and special effects for some your favorite films and television\u00a0shows.<\/p>\n<p>I had the good fortune to meet two of the founders of <em>KNB<\/em>, <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.knbefxgroup.com\/mainpage.html\" target=\"_blank\">Greg Nicotero<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.knbefxgroup.com\/mainpage.html\" target=\"_blank\">Howard Berger<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>who took time out from their busy scheduals to share a few things with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moviepropcollectors.com\/magazine\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>Movie Prop Collectors<\/em><\/strong><\/a> readers.<\/p>\n<p><em>KNB EFX Group Inc<\/em>.\u00a0was started in 1988 by <em>Robert <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">K<\/span><\/strong>urtzman<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Greg <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">N<\/span><\/strong>icotero <\/em>&amp;\u00a0\u00a0<em>Howard <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>B<\/strong><\/span>erger<\/em>,\u00a0which formed the letters <strong><em>KNB<\/em><\/strong> that artists and\u00a0film fans know so well.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1988, <em>KNB<\/em> has\u00a0worked on various\u00a0films and television shows including <em>Tales from the Darkside: The Movie<\/em>, <em>Misery<\/em>, <em>Army of Darkness<\/em>, <em>The X files<\/em>, <em>Casino<\/em>, <em>From Dusk Till Dawn<\/em>, <em>Scream<\/em>, <em>The Cel<\/em>, <em>Dune<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Spy Kids<\/em>,\u00a0and others.<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, <em>Robert\u00a0Kurtzman <\/em>left the group, and both <em>Greg\u00a0Nicotero <\/em>and <em>Howard Berger <\/em>continued the tradition of innovation and quality they started in 1988. Since then, <em>KNB<\/em> has worked on <em>Kill Bill<\/em>, the <em>Deadwood<\/em> series, the <em>Masters of Horror <\/em>series,\u00a0<em>Serenity<\/em>, <em>Hostel<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0363771\/\">The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe<\/a>,\u00a0<em>The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian<\/em>, <em>Inglourious Basterds<\/em>, <em>Drag Me to Hell<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Transformers: Revenge of the Fa<\/em>llen, <em>The Pacific<\/em>, <em>Predators<\/em>, and the\u00a0television series, <em>The Walking Dead<\/em>&#8230;..just to\u00a0name a few ;).<\/p>\n<p><em>KNB<\/em> has\u00a0won multiple awards for their work, including the British version of the <em>Academy Award<\/em>, the\u00a0<em>BAFTA<\/em>, and an <em>Academy Award<\/em>, for their work on <em>The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion,\u00a0The Witch and the Wardrobe<\/em>, as well as\u00a0<em>Emmy&#8217;s<\/em> for <em>Dune<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>The Pacific<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I spent part of the day with <em>Howard Berger<\/em>, <em>Greg Nicotero<\/em>, and their fellow artisans, who\u00a0took time from their busy day to share a few special\u00a0things with <em>Movie Prop Collectors<\/em> readers.<\/p>\n<p>There was so much to see,\u00a0hear, and learn that I am\u00a0making this a two or three part article.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Exclusive tour of Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger&#039;s KNB EFX Studio.
