\"\"<\/a>This past May I was contacted\u00a0by editor and\u00a0publisher, Ernest Farino from\u00a0Archive Editions<\/a>, about a 3 volume Ray Harryhausen<\/a> book set\u00a0his company was\u00a0doing on Ray’s vast and historic career.<\/p>\n

As well as being an accomplished editor and publisher, Mr.\u00a0Farino, is also\u00a0a\u00a0 2-time Emmy\u00ae Award winning visual effects supervisor for films and television including,\u00a0The Terminator<\/em>, HBO’s<\/a>,<\/em> From The Earth to the Moon<\/em>, Children of Dune<\/em>, and others.<\/p>\n

He explained that he enjoyed my 4 page article I did on Ray’s retrospective presented at\u00a0A.M.P.A.S<\/a> this past summer in Beverly Hills, CA, and\u00a0asked if I would be interested in contributing some of the photos I had taken\u00a0for my article about Ray, for use in\u00a0the books.<\/p>\n

I of course, said “Yes” ;).<\/p>\n

The photos I took will be in 2\u00a0of the 3 books. Volumes 1\u00a0and 3. The books are of\u00a0archival quality with literally thousands of photos of Ray’s original puppets, artwork, storyboards, behind the scenes info about Ray,\u00a0and his\u00a0co workers.<\/p>\n

The 3 volume set\u00a0written by Mike Hankin<\/a>, features interviews and contributions from\u00a0numerous actors, directors, and technicians including\u00a0\u00a0producer Charles H. Schneer, John Phillip Law, Caroline Munro, Andrew Faulds, Martha Hyer, Sam Wanamaker, Gordon Hessler, Patrick Wayne, Taryn Power, Jane Seymour, Gila Golan (star of <\/em>Valley of Gwangi<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0in her first interview in over 40 years),<\/em>Colin Arthur, Lionel Jeffries, Ian Scoones, Gary Raymond, voice over artist Nikki Van der Zyl (who revoiced Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C.<\/strong>)<\/em>, Martine Beswick, the late\u00a0Forrest J Ackerman, Wilkie Cooper, Enzo Musumeci-Greco, Jason and the Argonauts<\/em><\/strong> title artist James Wines (his first interview about his work on Jason<\/strong>),<\/em>Richard Green, Nathan Juran, Kerwin Mathews, Neil Pettigrew, and many others.<\/p>\n

There is also\u00a0considerable coverage of\u00a0Ray’s films during\u00a0production, with location photos on set, pre\u00a0 &\u00a0 post production\u00a0info, and much\u00a0more.<\/p>\n

This 3 volume set is the most comprehensive and complete coverage of anything and everything\u00a0Ray Harryhausen<\/em> ever published.<\/p>\n

I would also advise picking up the great\u00a0DVD, Ray Harryhausen: The Early Years Collection<\/a>. This 2 disc\u00a0set is one of the most comprehensive DVD\u00a0productions about Ray and his work that I have ever seen. It is a must have.<\/p>\n
