<\/a>On Friday June 25th, D23<\/em> fans had a rare opportunity\u00a0to attend the Disney Archives 40th Anniversary Celebration<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0studio’s Burbank, C.A. lot.<\/p>\n\u00a0At the celebration, \u00a0Disney Archives<\/em> chief archivist and Disney<\/em> Legend, Dave Smith<\/em>,was presented with a special award for\u00a0his 40 years of service with the Walt Disney Archives<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n Dave<\/em> founded the Disney Achives<\/strong><\/em> 40 years ago in 1970, and in those years he, Steven Clark, Becky Cline, Rob Klein<\/em>, and many others,\u00a0have lovingly preserved and catalogued the\u00a0iconic props, costumes, artwork and ephemera from Walt Disney’s<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0vast history.<\/p>\n D23<\/em>\u00a0members were treated to a special evening, including\u00a0a question and answer panel with Dave<\/em> and\u00a0film\u00a0critic\u00a0&\u00a0 historian,\u00a0Leonard Maltin<\/em>.<\/p>\n There were also\u00a0the\u00a0additions of some special\u00a0props, costumes and historic items\u00a0presented to\u00a0the Disney Archives<\/strong><\/em> by such illuminaries as Lost<\/strong>\u00a0s<\/em>creenwriter and executive producer Carlton Cuse<\/em>, Walt Disney Studios<\/strong><\/em> president of production Sean Bailey<\/em>, Disney Channels<\/strong><\/em> Worldwide president of entertainment Gary Marsh<\/em>, Mary Poppins<\/strong><\/em> actress, Karen Dotrice<\/em>,\u00a0son\u00a0of Roy E, Disney<\/em>, Roy Patrick Disney<\/em>, and\u00a0others.<\/p>\n Read the full report at D23’s web site<\/a>.<\/p>\n
