A rare Chinese bowl purchased at a garage sale in 2007 for $3, sold yesterday at Sotheby’s Auction’s, New York<\/em><\/strong><\/a> for more than $2.22 million.<\/p>\n

The bowl is 1,000 years old and is from the Northern Song Dynasty<\/em>. It measures 5 inches in diameter.<\/p>\n

Sotheby’s <\/em>has said the bowl was sold to a dealer from London for $2.225 million. Much more than the pre-sale estimate of $200,000 to $300,000.<\/p>\n

The person who consigned the bowl for auction had it displayed in their living room for a few years before becoming curious about its history and decided to have it appraised.<\/p>\n
