Profiles in History’s Hollywood Auction 44 did an amazing $5.8 million dollars in sales this past weekend. They raised almost $100,000 ($98,000) for Japan earthquake relief handled by The Red Cross. Items were donated by Greg Nicotero, Drew Struzan, and Frank Darabont.
The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car up for auction this weekend at Profiles in History’s Hollywood Auction #44, sold for more than three quarters of a million dollars, ($805,000), according to The Hollywood Reporter , USA Today, WonderWall and Edmunds Inside Line .
Most of the auction items sold, with many high end lots selling, as well as many items selling for above their pre auction estimates, including:
Lot 364: Sleeping Beauty production cel and original large pan background: $94,400
Lot 370: Maleficent production cel with key matching background: $50,150
Lot 450: 1924 hand written letter by Walt Disney to Mickey Mouse creator, Ub Iwerks: $247,800
Lot 846: RKO Pictures main title opening camera logo art : $200,600
Lot 997: Original screen worn Munchkin Flower Pot Hat from The Wizard of Oz: $10,030
Lot 998: Wicked Witch of the West Crystal Ball from The Wizard of Oz: $129,800
Lot 1001: The Big Sleep original bronze door plaque : $3,245
Lot 1012: Marilyn Monroe Let’s Make it Legal & publicity Bathing suit: $47,200
Lot 1063: Everlasting Gobstopper from Willy Wonka and the Chocotate Factory: $50,150
