Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane Oscar sells for $861,542 at auction

Orson Welles’ Academy Award won for writing the classic, “Citizen Kane” was sold to an undisclosed buyer yesterday for $861,542 at Nate D. Saunders Auctions.

The Oscar© was given to Welles and co-writer Herman J. Mankiewicz, for best screenplay of  their 1941, film, “Citizen Kane”. The statue was offered for sale by another auction house in 2007 but did not sell.
