Profiles in History Entertainment auctions total over $7.6 million

 

PIHPumpkinThumbEntertainment and Historical Document auction house, Profiles in History, held their Hollywood Auction #65 and The Expendables (auction #67 ) and Narnia Auctions (auction #68), recently in Calabasas, CA.

The auction total for all three auctions was an impressive $7,640,960.00

The total for Hollywood #65, including buyer’s premium was $7,143,438.25 & for The Expendables/Narnia items, the total was close to half a million dollars at $497,521.75.

There were 2,238 lots (1798 for the Hollywood Auction 65, and 440 lots for The Expendables and Narnia items, featured in a separate auction catalog). The majority of the lots sold with over 75% of 1798 lots selling for the Hollywood Auction#65, 98% of the 187 Narnia lots selling, and 52% sold for the 164 Expendables items.  The auction lots consisted of vintage Hollywood photographs, autographs, original props, costumes, art, and ephemera from many recognizable and popular Hollywood films, television shows, and entertainers.

Highlight’s of the auction lots sold include:

Lot# 699: Screen-used hero “Nautilus” undersea rifle from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Est: $20,000 – $30,000. Sold for $80,000.

Lot# 836:Orson Welles “Kane” signature “Podium” jacket from “citizen Kane”. Est: $60,000 – $80,000. Sold for $85,000.

Lot #939: Marilyn Monroe Collection of (8) negatives and transparencies: Est: $200-$200. Sold for $10,000.

Lot #997: Jean Louis original costume sketch of Marilyn Monroe as “Roslyn Taber” for The Misfits. Est: $6,000-$8,000. Sold for $19,000.

Lot #1030: Steve McQueen “Virgil Hilts” prison shirt from The Great Escape. Est: $12,000 – $15,000. Sold for $40,000.

Lot #146: Irene Ryan “Granny Clampett” signature glasses screen-worn on The Beverly Hillbillies. Est: $1,000 – $1,500. Sold for $10,000.

Lot #1286: “Indiana Jones” whip used in 1981, 1984 and 1989 Indiana Jones movies. Est: $50,000 – $70,000. Sold for $180,000.

Lot #1299: Hero screen-used Ricardo Montalban signature “Khan” tunic, wrist communicator and Starfleet necklace from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Est: $30,000 – $50,000. Sold for $45,000.

Lot #1367: “Pepe the King Prawn” animatronic puppet from The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz. Est: $10,000 – $15,000. Sold for $25,000.

Lot #1428: Jumanji original screen-used “carry board” game with letter from director Joe Johnston. Est: $30,000 – $50,000. Sold for $42,500.

Lot #1469: Leonardo DiCaprio “Jack Dawson” screen-worn signature “King of the World!” coat from Titanic. Est: $50,000 – $70,000. Sold for $60,000.

Lot #1562: Hugh Jackman signature hero leather “Wolverine” battle suit ensemble from X2: X-Men United. Est: $60,000-$80,000. Sold for $70,000.

Lot #1613: Robert Langdon “Tom Hanks” Hero “Cryptex” decoder in original engraved box from The Da Vinci Code. Est: $15,000 – $20,000. Sold for $55,000.

Lot #1677: Brett Beattie “Gimli” screen-used hero Battle Axe from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Est: $60,000-$80,00. Sold for $80,000.

Lot #1672: Ian McKellan “Gandalf the White” screen-used hero Wizard’s Staff from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Est: $25,000-$50,000. Sold for $325,000.

Lot #1121: Peter Fonda’s “Wyatt” iconic screen-used “Captain America” panhead chopper from Easy Rider. Est: $1,000,000 – $1,200,000. Sold for $1,350,000
