Profiles in History Dreier Collection Auction Hammers $2.4 million

 

Auction house, Profiles in History, held the first of three entertainment auctions today. “The Dreier Collection Auction” consisted of 396 lots which did very  well, hammering approximately* $2.4 $2,535,550@ million dollars without the buyers premium or bp included, and close to over $3 million@ with the bp factored in.

I was told the auction room was very crowded with excited bidders. There were quite a few bids live on the bidding floor as well as internet and phone bidding.

Below are some highlights:

Lot # 1:  20,000 Leagues Under the Sea large-scale Nautilus submarine and squid: Estimates : $60,000.00 – $80,000.00. Sold for ($130,000.00 + $29,900.00) x 1 = $159,900.00

Lot # 5: DICK VAN DYKE CHIMNEY SWEEP COAT FROM MARY POPPINS: Estimates : $4,000.00 – $6,000.00. Sold for ($22,000.00 + $5,060.00) x 1 = $27,060.00

Lot # 6: MATTHEW BRODERICK “FERRIS BUELLER” LEATHER JACKET FROM FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF: Estimates : $30,000.00. Sold for ($30,000.00 + $6,900.00) x 1 = $36,900.00

Lot # 9: Original screen-used Johnny Depp costume and display from Edward Scissorhands: Estimates : $60,000.00 – $80,000.00. Sold for ($70,000.00 + $16,100.00) x 1 = $86,100.00

Lot # 14: TOM HANKS “CAPTAIN JOHN MILLER” SIGNATURE MILITARY UNIFORM FROM SAVING PRIVATE RYAN: Estimates : $6,000.00 – $8,000.00. Sold for ($25,000.00 + $5,750.00) x 1 = #30,750.00

Lot # 20: RUSSELL CROWE “MAXIMUS” CHEST ARMOR FROM GLADIATOR: Estimates : $8,000.00 – $12,000.00. Sold for ($32,500.00 + $7,475.00) x 1 = $39,975.00

Lot # 21: RUSSELL CROWE “MAXIMUS” ICONIC CHEST ARMOR FROM GLADIATOR: Estimates: $15,000.00 – $20,000.00. Sold for ($47,500.00 + $10,925.00) x 1 = $58,425.00

Lot# 31: WILL FERRELL “RON BURGUNDY” COSTUME FROM ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY: Estimates : $2,000.00 – $3,000.00. Sold for ($22,500.00 + $5,175.00) x 1 = $27,675.00

 

Lot # 49: MADONNA MTV MUSIC AWARD FOR THE SONG “BEAUTIFUL STRANGER”: Estimates : 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Sold for ($13,000.00 + $2,990.00) x 1 = $15,990.00

Lot # 53: GENE WILDER “WILLY WONKA” SIGNATURE TOP HAT FROM WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY: Estimates : $20,000.00 – $30,000.00

Sold for ($27,500.00 + $6,325.00) x 1 = $33,825.00
Lot # 54: GENE WILDER “WILLY WONKA” SIGNATURE COSTUME FROM WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY: Estimates : $60,000.00 – $80,000.00. Sold for ($60,000.00 + $13,800.00) x 1 = $73,800.00
Lot # 56: OOMPA LOOMPA COSTUME FROM WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY: Estimates : 8$,000.00 – $12,000.00. Sold for ($25,000.00 + $5,750.00) x 1 = $30,750.00
Lot # 58: JULIE DAWN COLE “VERUCA SALT’S” ORIGINAL SCREEN-USED “EVERLASTING GOBSTOPPER” FROM WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. Estimates : $20,000.00 – $30,000.00. Sold for ($40,000.00 + $9,200.00) x 1 = $49,200.00
Lot # 81: MARLON BRANDO COMPLETE SIGNATURE “JOR-EL” COSTUME FROM SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE. Estimates : $60,000.00 – $80,000.00. Sold for ($60,000.00 + $13,800.00) x 1 = $73,800.00
Lot #83: CHRISTOPHER REEVE COMPLETE HERO SUPERMAN COSTUME FROM SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE. Estimates : $60,000.00 – $80,000.00. Sold for ($65,000.00 + $14,950.00) x 1 = $79,950.00
Lot #85: KRYPTONITE CRYSTAL FROM SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE: Estimates : 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Sold for ($22,500.00 + $5,175.00) x 1 = $27,675.00
There are so many more items I could list but it would take pages to include the many outstanding lots up for auction ;).
I can’t wait to see what the next few days brings with the Animation Auction and Hollywood Auction #49.
