‘Star Wars’ Fans Rebuild Luke Skywalker’s Home in Tunisian desert

 

The original filming hut/home used in George Lucas’sStar Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope “, starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, & Carrie Fisher, has recently been restored by a group of Star Wars fans and their adventure has been documented with a diary of the restoration, photos, and videos.

The hut, located in the Tunisian desert, still stands and was in need of TLC. Step in sci fi writer, Mark Dermul of Belgium and 6 Star Wars fans, including Terry Cooper, Mark Cox, Robert Cunnigham, Immanuel Dijk, and Michel Verpoorten. These devoted Star Wars fans hail from around the world, including, Belgium, the USA, UK, Holland, Ireland, and Australia.

Mr Dermul & the group set up a web site aptly named, “Savelars“. “Lars” being the name of Luke Skywalkers home featured in the film.

The web site has raised over $11,000 for the restoration and fans of the film should take advantage of the extensive documentation of all of the the hard work Mark, and the other Star Wars fans completed to restore the home to it’s former glory. Check it out.
