Auction house, Heritage Auctions, had their  Natural History & Fine Minerals Signature Auction #6068 in New York today and one of the items sold was an actual   Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur. The dino sold for $1,052,500.00, which includes the buyers premium. Buyers premiums for this was auction was 25% for items costing up to $50,000, 20% for items costing between $50,000-$1,000,000, and 12% for items selling voer $1,000,000.

The fossil, lot #49315, stands an incredible 8 feet high and is 24 feet in length. According to the auction description the body is 75% complete and the skull 80% complete, and the dino is mounted on a “discreet gray-painted armature”.
