Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising film costume exhibition

 

 

The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) will feature their 19th Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design costume exhibit, featuring over 100 original costumes from February 8th-April 30th 2011.

FIDM  is a private college devoted to prepairing students for careers in the Fashion, Graphics, Interior Design, and Entertainment Industries.

They have galleries on campus with both permanent and limited exhibitions featuring more than 15,000 objects. The Permanent Collection represents over 200 years of fashion history, including couture and ready-to-wear, film costumes, non-western dress, textiles, jewelry, and fragrance.

The gallery is open to the public for free and will feature original costumes  from over 20 movies nominated for 2011’s best costume Oscar, including costumes from “The Tempest,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “The King’s Speech,” “True Grit,” and more.

The exhibit also includes a tribute to last year’s Academy Award winner for Best Costume, “The Young Victoria.”
