Profiles in History ‘Charity Auction 42’ at Universal Studios Nov 6 !

As a special treat for MoviePropCollectors readers and members, here is a sneak peak at some special news courtesy of Joe Maddalena, CEO and President of auction house Profiles in History.

On Saturday November 6th at 6pm PDT Profiles in History will be having a special auction at The Globe Theatre at Universal Studios to benefit VARIETY-The Children’s Charity of Southern California. Various Studios have donated items from Tron, G.I. Joe, Twilight, Transformers 2, Coraline and The Chronicles of Narnia to this auction.  In addition, Profiles is joining forces with Michael J. Fox’s Team Fox to raise funds to aid in Parkinson’s research.  Back to the Future creator Bob Gale has donated items from his personal collection to the auction.

The auction continues with some great items from SyFy’s Warehouse 13, Eureka and Caprica, as well as a wonderful offering of original props and set pieces from Stargate SG-1.

The auction concludes with more amazing items including:   A hero K.I.T.T. car from Knight Rider, an original Golden Ticket from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971), one the highest CGC graded unrestored copies of Superman Comics #1 known to exist, original 1943 Bob Kane “Batman” comic strip art, an animatronic ‘Daffy’ puppet from Gremlins 2, original Eyvind Earle art from Sleeping Beauty, original production animation cels from The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine, and a Star Wars poster signed by six principle cast members, to name just a few of the 152 items being sold.

P.S.

On October 14th, 2010, NBC/Universal’s publicity department sent Movie Prop Collectors an advance rough copy today of the first two episodes of Joe Maddalena’s new SyFy Channel reality show, Hollywood Treasure.

Hollywood Treasure is a weekly documentary-reality series that explores the intricate world of collecting iconic Hollywood props, costumes and memorabilia.

Focusing on science fiction, horror and fantasy props and costumes  the series follows host, Joe Maddalena, Brian Chanes, Jonathan Mankuta, TracyMcCall, and the team from Profiles in History, the world’s largest auctioneer of original movie, television and pop culture collectibles.

The premier episodes I viewed today look amazing.

Fast paced, exciting and full of surprises, Hollywood Treasure is original and has something for everyone.

Watching Joe and his team discover iconic props, costumes, and artifacts had me wanting to see more to find out what would happen next.

The show is perfect for the SyFy family as many of the iconic items discovered are from the Sci Fi, Horror, and Fantasy genre.

After previewing the show, I could sense how much Joe Maddalena and his crew actually care about what they do, and I truly appreciate it.  This show is a postive thing for the preservation and enjoyment of Hollywood history, and will also have a significant impact on the entertaiment memorabilia field.

My advice is to tune in for the premier Wed, October 27th at 10pm eastern and see for yourself 🙂
