http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z71/MoviePropCollector/Forrest.jpgOn Thursday, December 4, 2008, horror and science fiction author, actor,( The Howling, Beverly Hills Cop III, Amazon Women on the Moon), editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, and creator of the Vampirella comic book, Forrest J. Ackerman, passed away from heart failure at his home in Los Feliz, California.

I met Forrey (Forry, 4E, FJA) late last year at his home in Loz Feliz, and even though it was the first time I met him, Forrey treated me like we were old friends. He was very kind and friendly.

He told me some interesting stories and was eager to share his collection of horror and science fiction props, memorabilia, and books. Forrey also asked me to come again anytime. I thanked him and said in the words of Arnuluud, "I'll be back".... to which he laughed.

I visited Forrey once more a few months ago, and while I was there, we talked much more than we did the last time. I wrote down some of the funny things he shared with me about some of the famous artifacts he still owned, and people he met.

When I told Forrey I was going to write a little story about him and his collection, he was very excited and asked his assistant/caretaker to show me some of his important collection to take photos for the article. I took many photos, along with a few of Forrey himself.

I should have the story up soon with lots of photos.

I am sure Forrey knows that he, like every person in this world is never forgotten.

A sad loss for the horror/sci-fi community, not to mention humanity in general. Very glad you were able to meet the man before he passed. Obviously an amazing guy based on everything I've read and seen about him. Definitely love to hear more about your interview and see the photos you took. R.I.P. "Forry".
